Houston

It’s 4 in the morning and I’m up to work out before Eliot heads off to work. This post is official procrastination while the coffee kicks in.
We’re headed up to Houston this weekend to spend some time with my mother in-law. Thankfully there are lots of hilly trails there to train on for Leadville… Well, there’s a pool that I can lose my mind aqua jogging in at any rate.
I ran at Friedrich Park yesterday with friends. If you are in San Antonio, and you want to run some rocky trail hills, you should run here. It’s a small park, but it’s easy to get to, and it never seems to be crowded. We went to Hills and Dales afterwards to rehydrate. Hills and Dales is a Texas roadhouse/biker bar. There are flags flying on the building and lots of Harleys outside and they’re surprisingly welcoming to the muddy and/or sweaty runner crowd. This bar is also down the street from my house. In fact, my neighborhood is called Hills and Dales. I’m not sure if we were named after the bar or vice versa, but it’s really pleasing to be able to mention a biker bar when I give directions to the house for Asa’s playdates.

I loved reading this email, knowing what yesterday was for you. You sound like someone who’s not going to accept defeat, rather be victorious despite any circumstances, and that’s why you’re a champion! Keep it up!
