My 10 cents

10 cents.  That’s the price difference between a “tall” soy latte and a “short” soy latte at Starbucks.  What the heck?  I thought I was being all economical and sneaky when I broke my one-cup-of-caffeine-a-day resolution this afternoon.  (It’s been that kind of a day, people.)  But, no, there’s absolutely no reason to order the unlisted “short” — unless you really need a dime — maybe to balance the blades of your ceiling fan or something — or you like tiny cups.  The Starbucks minion did let me know that if I’d had a registered Starbucks card, I would not have had to pay an extra 60 cents for soy.  That was after she put the tiny cup in front of me and charged me the usurious 60 cent soy fee.  How are soybeans more expensive than cows?  Anyway, it seems the moral of the story is:  Don’t be weak-willed if you don’t have a registered Starbucks card and  you like fru-fru coffee drinks.  (Syrups are also free with a registered card.)

In other news: I haven’t tested the Accelgels on a long run yet, but they’re pretty darn tasty.  They’re really thin — kind of like a coffee syrup — and it seems like they’ll be a lot easier to stomach after many hours because of that.  Rocky will tell.  And, speaking of Rocky, Jenn Shelton’s course record is 14:57.  That’s 10 min/20-mile -loop faster than I ran last year.  Wow.  But I’m a year older now…and older means faster.  😉

14:57 was on the “old” course. Therefore, I believe a case can be made that you’re the current course record holder! Helping to captain the Park Road AS and we’ll definitely be cheering for you on each of your 5 trips through. Wonderfully entertaing blog btw. Miles.
