Expletive fun

Have you heard about his book by Adam Mansbach already?  Here’s an excerpt from the Everydad.

The owls fly forth from the treetops.

Through the air, they soar and they sweep.

A hot crimson rage fills my heart, love

For real, shut the [expletive] up and sleep.

The cubs and the lions are snoring,

Wrapped in a big snuggly heap.

You’re cute as hell and smart as [expletive]

But why in the [expletive] won’t you sleep?

NPR (the source of all knowledge) had a piece on it that wrapped up with:

“Of course, the book has received criticism, especially from parents who say they love their children so much, they enjoy every second with them — even when they’re struggling to go to sleep.

To that Mansbach responds with typical flair: ‘They’re full of [expletive],’ he said.”

Hope y’all are chuckling right now.  Have a [unobjectionable expletive] great Friday.  😉

A few years ago, I wrote “30 Minutes to More Effective Temper Tantrums.” No publisher thought that was funny.

  2. Brett says:

If they tweaked the book just a bit, they could sell millions of them.

Instead of lions and tigers, have hawks, egrets, ostriches, eagles, and condors on page after page. And re-title the book to “Go The Flock To Sleep”.

Be right back, making a Children’s Book. Thanks Brett!
